Dean James King's Journey to King Hit: From Script to Book
Born as Dean James Kent on the Gold Coast, I am a single parent alongside my two siblings. In 2008, driven by an untold story, I began writing a movie script despite lacking formal education. I'd type away at 3 am, and after a year, I had a 300-page script.
A chance encounter at the Byron Bay Writers Festival changed everything. A kind Englishman introduced me to the concept of self-publishing. I met a book editor who urged me to turn the script into a book. The process was challenging, involving learning the craft of writing, but I embraced it.
With each edit, I learned the importance of detail, consistency, and structure. Track changes became my companion, and after numerous revisions, King Hit, a raw and authentic tale, emerged as a 600-page manuscript.
The journey was gruelling, with frustration and challenges, but after about twenty edits, King Hit was born.
